a Travel Scope? A Travel Scope provides opportunities
to see skies best accessible by airplane.
Our Truss Connectors permit you to split your
Truss length in half so that they will fit into
your suitcase. They offer the additional benefit of dampening
vibration that can travel up and down the length of the Truss.
That benefit suggests that your Telescope doesn't need to be a Traveler
to benefit from this product.
Refractor vs. Reflector Traveler; We often regard the "short tube" APO Refractor as the ideal Travel Scope, because they can fit into a carry-on case. In a side by side comparison considering cost, weight and aperture, the Dob is the way to go for Deep Sky observing. With a Refractor, you need a decent carry on case. With the Dob shown above, the Mirror box is the case containing a 12 inch mirror and cage. The few remaning parts can be packed in the "check in" luggage. Thr refractor requires a decent tripod and mount while the Dob only requires a few polls to act as trusses. Comparing cost and the light gathering power of a 12 inch vs. a 4 inch Refractor, the Dob has a clear advantage. |
